Faiz draws cafe wordmarks the way letterpress printers used to — one optical adjustment at a time, a millimetre off the baseline, the bowl of the a a hair tighter than the metric grid says it should be. He builds identity systems for independent coffee, kaya-toast, and slow-food brands across KL, Singapore, and Bandung.

FROM THE STUDIO
Working principle: the wordmark is the brand. Every other surface — menu, awning, oat-milk carton, neon — is a derivation of the metric system the wordmark sets. Get the letters right and the rest renders itself.
Mitra-house brief format is one A3 sheet, hand-set, with optical notes in mono and references on the back. No mood boards. No Pinterest. The brief is itself a small specimen.
Currently taking on three new identities per quarter. Coffee, kaya-toast, fermentation, slow-food retail. No Web3, no fintech, no SaaS — the typography of those categories is doing fine without me.
